We Will Thrive Anyway

by: Hannah Dearth

I have felt so uprooted this last two months or so. My life is not “my life”. Normal has changed. I thought that I had come to accept that it will be different for quite some time.

That being said, I have still been looking forward to approaching a plan toward “normal” life again. However, when it was announced, my heart didn’t feel relief. In fact, announcing opening up the states in upcoming weeks came with more confusion and anxiety than it did when shutdown was announced.

That same day the announcement was made, I went on a hike with my family. Most of the area was flooded, and then we came across a barren section. Everything had been devastated... likely by a storm...and wiped clean. But, as we continued growth appeared. New life. Fresh and abundant. I could guess that this new regrowth probably did not look exactly the same as it had before. It had grown back differently. But nonetheless... it had grown back. Healthy, vibrant, and thriving.

Things in our lives will get better. New life will come in place of what this storm has uprooted and wiped clean. However friends, it will not look the same.

We will thrive anyway.
