Each year, we have our son come down the stairs on Christmas morning and look to see if Jesus “has been born” (is now appearing in the nativity display), before he can go see if “Santa” came with presents. While this right now may seem to him like just a lifetime of waiting before he can go open gifts, for us it is a symbolic way of saying Jesus first. Jesus before “things” and Jesus before a me first world....and ultimately, we hope it’s connecting to the bigger message we are trying to make every other day of the year. Jesus before...anything else in life. He chose us, before we ever chose to go looking for Him!
